Nakajima Yuto x Takaki Yuya x Arioka Daiki - Wink-up November 2021

This month, Dai-chan, Yuto and Takaki talk about "envy" and "possession".
It's a topic that the members don't usually have a chance to talk about together, so the three of them are excited.

Arioka: Today's theme is envy and possession, so how do you feel? Do you get jealous?

Nakajima: Ah, I get jealous.

Arioka: I don't get jealous.

Takaki: I don't know which way I go... I think I'm about 6-4 and don't get jealous.

Arioka: Yuto, I know what your jealousy is like. It's kind of cute.

Nakajima: Especially when I was a kid, I didn't even try to hide it. I always thought "how nice" (T/N: Ii na, this is more of a nuance phrase and the best translation I could come up with was "how nice") when someone else had something that I didn't. In fact, I was the kind of kid who always said "how nice".

Takaki and Arioka: Oh, I know what you mean!

Arioka: Now you don't say "how nice" but "isn't that nice" (T/N: Ii jan, with no nuance)



Nakajima: I guess so! "How nice" and "isn't that nice" have very different meanings. I guess I've also grown up, haven't I?

Takaki: Earlier, when Yuto said, "how nice", I thought, "Wow~ I've missed that!" The look on his face, with him slightly pouting, was just like a primary school student (laughs).

Nakajima: Was I able to recreate it properly (laughs)?

Takaki: It was perfect. When I was a junior, I thought "how nice" about people who could be taken overseas.

Arioka: That's true! But I have to say, we were able to go to many places.

Takaki: I'm grateful for that, but we went to Hawaii a lot. I longed to go to Las Vegas or New York or something like that.

Nakajima: There it is! That's when I would think "how nice" without any hesitation (laughs).

Arioka: Our managers would ask us meaningfully, but without any explanation, "Is your passport... expired?" (laughs).

Nakajima: Right, right, right! I thought, "Huh, by any chance, could this be?"

Takaki: But in the end, someone else brought our suitcases to the venue of "SUMMARY" . After the show, we went straight to the airport. That's when I was just like Yuto, with his "how nice" (laughs).

Arioka: Right. But I was more of a Hawaii person. Hawaii was just for fun, but New York and Las Vegas were a bit more of a hurdle for kids because they had a "learning showbusiness" section (laughs). Now I'd love to go there!

Nakajima: When I was little, I didn't think of it as a job.

Arioka: Yes, yes. That's why I didn't feel "frustrated" or "annoyed" when the juniors around me got good positions.

Takaki: Me too. I was just a kid, so I just wanted to have fun (laughs).

Arioka: Ah, but when KAT-TUN and NEWS performed "SUMMARY", Yuto was on stage as a rabbit and Inoo-chan was on stage as a robot, and I remember thinking in the dressing room "how nice" (laughs).

Nakajima: That was when I was still really small!

Arioka: We were a unit called J.J. Express, and the fact is... I wasn't selected... It wasn't so much that I was frustrated, but it was more of a feeling of loneliness in the dressing room. And speaking of jealousy, do you feel jealous when it comes to talent? For example, when you see how the other members are working, you think "Wow, that's amazing".

Takaki: Huh, what is it? There are a lot of things that I think are amazing, but when it comes to jealousy, I'm not so sure.

Nakajima: Really? I'm jealous of a lot.

Takaki: I went to see Yuto in "Wendy and Peter Pan" the other day and it was really good. I was honestly moved.

Arioka: I also went to see it on a different day to Takaki, but I thought it was really 'brilliant'.

Nakajima: Wow, I'm so happy!

Takaki: There really is Peter Pan here. He just looks like Peter Pan.

Arioka: That's an 'amazing' thing. We know Yuto so well that we have unconscious preconceptions about him, so it's a situation where it's hard for us to enter his world, right? But we didn't have to think about 'Oh, this is what's going on now', we just watched it until the end.

Nakajima: Takaki-kun sent me one long message, but then he said, "This isn't enough to tell you, so I'll tell you in person!" (laughs) I'm glad he could tell me that I "still have the heart of a boy."

Takaki: I'm jealous of Yuto’s ability to draw you into his worldview in an instant, I wish I had just a little bit of that talent!

Nakajima: I have all the talents I want to have. Takaki-kun is one of the JUMP members who can take a different approach to things, isn't he? We both work as models, but Takaki-kun has a wild and outdoorsy vibe, and can pull off the slightly badass look of a mature man with ease. I would never be able to pull off that kind of look.

Arioka: It's true that Yuto and Takaki are very different types. When it comes to their work, I don't think they'll ever fight with each other for roles. When it comes to fighting with each other for women... I don't know though (laughs).

Takaki and Nakajima: That won't happen either!

Takaki: You know who we are (laughs).

Nakajima: But what would happen if you and I were to fight for a woman?

Takaki: This is a maybe, but I feel we'd meet in the middle. We'd be like "I'm okay, so you go" or "Nah, I'll step aside."

Nakajima: That's probably true! As for Dai-chan, you produce everything yourself, you really think about every little detail and you give it shape, right? I'm jealous of your ideas and your ability to progress forward.

Arioka: What, you can't do that, Yuto?

Nakajima: No, I can't. I'm more of a player, I do exactly what I'm given... I'm that type of person. If I could come up with as many ideas as Dai-chan, I'm sure I would be able to expand my work.

Arioka: Thank you very much! I'm really happy to hear your praise, but I don't know what kind of face to make in this situation, so I just kept a straight face and stared at one place (laughs). I'm jealous of Yuto’s looks. Everything looks good on him.



Takaki: What would be the first thing you would do if you woke up tomorrow and you were still Arioka-kun on the inside, but you looked like Yuto?

Arioka: I'd put on a coat and walk around with a strut (laughs). And speaking of jealousy, we have to talk about love, right? Of course Yuto would be...

Nakajima: I think I'd be jealous!

Takaki: That's right (laughs). I don't think I'd be jealous or possessive.

Arioka: Me too. What would you do if your girlfriend was someone who went out at night a lot? I'm curious~

Takaki: I would be completely fine with it. I'd probably think, 'I'm lucky, I get to hang out with my friends too' (laughs).

Arioka: When do you feel like being possessive?

Nakajima: It's not that I want to be possessive. I think I'm the person who wants to make my partner smile the most. So if I saw my partner talking to another guy and smiling, I think I'd be like, 'Hmm, what's this?"

Takaki and Arioka: Wow~

Nakajima: Since I was in primary school, I've been the type of kid who imitates things and makes the kids in class laugh. I still have that part of me now.

Takaki: So what if you had a girlfriend and she was watching a JUMP show and said, 'Arioka-kun is a really, really funny person!

Nakajima: I'd be jealous.

Arioka: Really? I'm sorry I made you jealous (laughs).

Nakajima: But I'd say, 'That's right. 'Dai-chan is funny and a good guy.' But in my heart, I'd be feeling the flares of jealousy and think, "Hmm".

Arioka: Really? I don't feel that way. What about you, Takaki?

Takaki: Me? I'd say, "He's not as nice as he looks" (laughs).

Nakajima: That's the worst!

Takaki: I'm lying! I wouldn't be jealous at all if he were like that.

Arioka: And Yuto will be worried when his girlfriend says, "I'm going out for dinner with my friends."

Nakajima: Yes. I'll probably ask a lot of questions like, "Hmm... who with?? Where are you going? What are you going to eat?"

Arioka: "What time will you be back?"

Nakajima: Right! I want to ask that too! I know it's lame to say it out loud, but I'll probably ask.

Takaki: But I think she'll think it's 'cute' if you got jealous that clearly, right? On the other hand, how do you feel about someone being jealous around you?

Arioka: Moderate jealousy is totally fine, but I wouldn't want her to say, "Show me see your mobile phone."

Takaki and Nakajima: I would hate that too!

Takaki: That's right. It's not that there's anything in there that I feel guilty about (laughs), but I think it's too much if it goes that far. I'll show it to her if she insists, but I think she'll lose interest.

Nakajima: I'm also quite jealous, but I think that's a line I wouldn't cross. I guess jealousy is totally different from person to person.

Takaki: It was interesting that Yuto was totally different from us.

Arioka: Right! We don't usually talk like this among the members, so it was fun today.
