Hey! Say! JUMP - Men's No-no (November 2021)
Hey! Say! JUMP debuted as a super group that would usher in a new era.
They have been at the forefront of the entertainment industry for years and that momentum continues to grow as they begin their 15th anniversary year this November.
To celebrate this milestone and the future, a special banquet will be held in the magazine!
All the members of the band appeared together, dressed in Men's Non-no party style.
The interview about their future prospects and their own views on fashion are a must-read.
Yamada Ryosuke

Something that hasn't changed since our formation is our goal of ''being successful". I never once thought of ourselves as being successful. I feel like we're definitely making steady progress, so I want us to work as hard as we can for as long as we can! What has changed over the last 15 years is my view on fashion, it's become not so much about what I wear but how I wear it. I've realised that clothes look different depending on who wears them, such as someone who looks good in just a T-shirt, so I've been putting effort into improving myself. Speaking of clothes, Kishi (Yuta) recently came to visit my house. He doesn't care about clothes, so I gave him a nice pair of shoes, but he said "I like these!" and pointed towards my shoes (laughs). I gave him both, and he was so happy that he put them on and went home, but Kishi's shoes were still at the entrance. Cute, isn't it? We haven't been able to connect with our fans for two years, so we want to repay them by sharing the same space with them at our concerts. I'd like us to dance together to the choreography that Chinen-sensei came up with for "Sing-along", which shows the importance of human connections. Finally... I knew that Yuto would definitely be a good fit for modelling, so I was really happy when he decided to appear in Men's Non-no. Please continue to look after our Yuto!
Chinen Yuri

I think we've grown over the last 15 years and the environment around us has also changed as a result. Especially recently, we've been able to give shape to the things we want to do, and we've been getting a lot of feedback about it, so I feel we have a really good process. I like my job the most when we're all together, so I want to be active with the members for as long as I can. On a personal note, I tried my hand at choreography for the first time on our upcoming song 'Sing-along'. At first I refused and said I couldn't do it. I've been dancing for a long time, but I've never really thought of myself as a choreographer. I probably refused three times. Even so, the members told me to do it and in the end I was prepared. The theme of the song was "Let's dance together", so the choreography itself is simple enough for anyone to dance to. I took it seriously and I enjoyed thinking of the choreography, but I don't think I'll do it again (laughs). I'm not really the type of person who commits to new things. I'm the same with fashion. I buy three T-shirts I like in different colours, then wear them. But once I like something, I do for a long time. I don't get bored of it.

I am really happy to be in Men's Non-no with all the other members this time. We had a really fun shoot, each of us had a nice choice of outfits to wear that suited us, and the set was absolutely gorgeous! The last 15 years have been both long and short, and there have been a lot of changes. In terms of fashion, I used to like American casual wear and wear things like checkered shirts and jeans a lot, but since I've been modelling for Men's Non-no, I try to wear more nicer clothes. I like to add in a little playfulness, not just in my fashion, but in everything. Ever since I debuted, I felt like I've always wanted to be an adult who never forgets to be playful and curious, and since this is the world of entertainment, I don't think we can deliver convincing dreams and hopes unless we take the initiative and enjoy ourselves. That's why I'm really looking forward to our first concerts with an audience in a while, and I hope it will be a celebration of our 15th anniversary. For my personal wish, I'd like to experience more art and music in the future. I'd like to go around an art museum as part of a Men's Non-no project!

It's our 15th anniversary and the 35th anniversary of Men's Non-no. I'm really grateful that we can appear in the magazine this point in time. When I go to the hairdressers, I always read Men's Non-no. The next time I go, we'll be on the cover. I'm really looking forward to that (laughs). What I'm most happy about when it comes to our 15th anniversary is that we'll be able to hold a concert with an audience. It's been two years. It's been a long time since we've seen the smiles on the faces of an audience, so we'd like to get energy from that and do many things with that momentum. Of course, in Johnny's, we learn from what our seniors' are doing, but I think JUMP should take JUMP's own original path, and we often discuss that how we have a lot of ideas about songs. And ideas on how to show ourselves as a group that we think would be surprising if they were implemented. In that sense, I think our 15th anniversary is just one checkpoint. For me personally, I think about JUMP every day, and I have many things I want to do, like a dinner theatre (T/N: Dinner theatre is a form of entertainment that combines a restaurant meal with a staged play or musical.) I'm sure it's the same for the other members too, so as we fulfill what we want to do one by one, before I know it, I'll be so old that I'll have a bad back (laughs).
Yabu Kota

I don't really get many opportunities to wear glamorous clothes besides our concerts, so today was good motivation for me. When it comes to my clothes, I always focus on the material. One key point is that I won't get stressed even if I wear something all day long. One of those things is a pair of engineer boots from the 70s that I bought, which were recommended to me by Totsuka Shota from A.B.C-Z. I've been wearing them for more than 10 years while maintaining the soles, and I've become so familiar with the leather that it's very comfortable to wear. I feel like I've become familiar with the members better over time too. When we debuted, we were young, so the age difference between us felt big, and we were mainly doing work with the group, so we didn't have a wide outlook. Now, each of us absorbs a lot of things through our solo activities, and I feel that the whole group is growing each time we come back. On a personal level, my work as an MC for a soccer show has made me realise the importance of vocabulary. I'd like to write an essay someday, but when I think about the difficulties I had writing my thesis at university, it's hard to take the plunge (laughs). I haven't been able to go out for dinner with all the members for the past two years, so I'd like to make it happen next year, for our 15th anniversary. We don't need any special effects or decorations, just being together is enough to make me happy!
Inoo Kei

When I debuted, I was in my second year of high school. I thought I'd be busy soon after, but I didn't have any personal work for about five years. It wasn't the path I had envisaged, which is why I'm grateful for the present and excited about what the future holds for me. As you grow older, you start to understand your strengths and weaknesses, but I want to keep challenging myself without being limited by those. One of the things that made me happy this year was that I got to play the lead role in my first drama, "Junkyouju Takatsuki Akira no Suisatsu". One of the most impressive things was the suit I wore in the drama was completely custom-made and they made small adjustments to it to suit my changing body shape during the filming. I realised how good it was to have a custom-made suit, so I went with a friend to have one made. It was fun to make it from scratch, so we also ordered two more coats. When they're finished, we're planning to wear them to a fancy French dinner. Just the three of us (laughs). Our new song "Sing-along" is a fight song, but rather than cheering you on strongly, it's more of a supporting song with kindness. As the hard days continue, we sing with the feeling that we hope we can bring cheer to you through our songs, even if it's just a little. And finally, I'm looking forward to seeing you in concert!
Takaki Yuya

I still haven't thought about celebrating our 15th anniversary, but I feel that this tour is a celebration in itself. I'm very happy to be able to share this "congratulations" with our fans who have supported us for so long. And it would be amazing to have a closing party after the concerts! We all like to drink, so maybe we'll prepare some champagne. When I first debuted, I was overwhelmed and couldn't afford it, but as I’ve become older, I've started to enjoy new challenges. The highlight of this year was being in a musical. Singing and dancing while performing is much more difficult than I imagined, and when I finally started to enjoy it, it came to an end. I've learnt so much and I'd love to try it again. Modeling, which I started last year, is another thing I want to develop further. I read Men's Non-no that Yuto is in and ask him for advice. The costumes and of course, the atmosphere of the set are completely different, so we're surprised when we talk to each other and say "Wow!" (laughs) Even though we work in different fields of activity, my relationship with the members has not changed at all and I think it will never change. Just seeing them makes me feel at home, they're like my family.
Arioka Daiki

I like playful designs and I like clothes that make people say something like, "What's that?" When you wear something you like, it makes you feel good. For me, it's my sneakers. When I first wear them, I feel good. I take them out of the box and spray them carefully with waterproof spray. I already have a lot of fun from there (laughs). When I look back over the last 15 years, a lot has happened. As for clothes, I remember the outfit I wore for the song "Hitomi no Screen". I was wearing purple pants and a black cutsew with sparkly rhinestones on it, and I felt a little bit like a grandma (laughs). I was still a teenager and impressionable, so that was a shock. JUMP is like a petrol station to me, I feel relieved and energised when I come here. We're about to start our 15th anniversary year authentically, so I want to do lots of interesting things together. Personally, I'd like to master "whisking". Whisking is a kind of sauna treatment where you use a bundle of birch branches and leaves called a "vihta" to tap your body. It feels really good. I'd like to heal the members with whisking.
