Yamada: We met at a calendar shoot, right?

Chinen: That's right. Not our own, of course. We were one of the many little Jr's. who were surrounding Nakamaru-kun (Yuichi) on his page.

Yamada: I remember Chinen at the time well. At the time, my perception of Chinen was that "he was the kid in the movie "NIN x NIN Ninja Hattori-kun THE MOVIE" who sometimes showed up."

Chinen: That was when I was still living in Shizuoka.

Yamada: Honestly, at the time I thought, "What's the point?". I was frantically working hard in my lessons and rehearsals to get noticed as much as possible. I was freaking out about when I wouldn't be called up while Chinen was in a good position to be called up only at the right time. And when I would see Chinen in that position, I'd think, "Wow, he's here! That child who comes sometimes!"

Chinen: I would come sometimes (laughs).

Yamada: Even then I knew at the time it was cute.

Chinen: But I noticed Ryosuke pretty early on, too. I even watched "Shonen Club" in Shizuoka (laughs).

Yamada: We noticed each other, but it took a while for us to have a conversation.

Chinen: It did. Both Ryosuke and I were a lot more shy than we were now. I remember my first job after I moved to Tokyo was at a rehearsal for a New Year's concert at the Nippon Budokan. On the second day, Ryosuke, Yuto and Daiki were there, and I thought, "Wow, I'm here with some famous people." It was around that time I started to sing with the other members. It was also around the time we started leaving together.

Yamada: Right. We were all miraculously on the same train line (laughs).

Chinen: In those days, I used to stay at someone's place often, but I don't think anyone ever came to my place.

Yamada: I haven't been to Chii's parents' house. But Chii has come to all of my places.

Chinen: (Remembering) I have.

Yamada: Even though I moved out of my parent's house, I've lived on my own in each place. It's amazing (laughs).

Chinen: It's not like I think, "If Ryosuke moved out, I have to go!" It's just a relationship where I keep going to his house (laughs).

Yamada: But you're the only one who has mastered all my places. Is there anything that left an impression on you?

Chinen: The first place was far away. It was so far away that I probably spent more time travelling there than staying (laughs).

Yamada: Indeed. Even so, I remember thinking how could you come back a second time.

Chinen: That's true (laughs). At your next family's house, we watched fireworks from something like a rooftop with Daiki and everyone else because we could see them.

Yamada: That's right. That was around high school right.

Chinen: My mum and sister used to go to that house too, and the Yamada's, Chinen's and Daiki, a strange group of people, would go for yakiniku.

Yamada: I remember! (laughs) The Yamada's were open and welcoming to anyone who came, so Chinen's house was just a place I went to when I first started living on my own.

Chinen: Right. He went with me to the local discount store to buy me some alcohol as a housewarming gift.

Yamada: I thought that if he lived alone, he'd be drinking at home more often. Chii's place was really simple.

Chinen: Yeah. I'm not that interested in interior design, and I simply moved because I got busy with work and it was too hard to travel.

Yamada: The place itself was stylish. I love interior design, so when I visit someone's home, I often look around.

Chinen: When we talk like this, it feels like our relationship has never changed, but there was a time in high school when we didn't talk much.

Yamada: Oh, maybe we didn't. We hardly ever talked in our second grade at school.

Chinen: Me and Yuto were the same, and only Ryosuke was in a different class.

Yamada: Chinen and Yuto were very serious and I wasn't very serious.

Chinen: Well, I guess that's part of it, to put it roughly (laughs). Ryosuke, or rather the whole class was like that. We had gym class together, but the people in that class didn't follow the rules at all (laughs).

Yamada: Yeah, there's no denying it (laughs). The classes were completely divided by colours.

Chinen: Also, it was simply a period of time when we were working together all the time, so it didn't matter much if we didn't talk too much outside of work.

Yamada: That's right. At the time I was also working with NYC (a unit formed with Nakayama Yuma, Yamada Ryosuke and Chinen Yuri). So even though we didn't talk at school, it didn't feel like there was any distance between us.

Chinen: In one group we spent a long time together and talked a lot, so when we're together with another group, we spend an unusual amount of time together (laughs).

Yamada: And we've been together all this time without a fight, right? Do you remember any?

Chinen: No, I don't think so.

Yamada: Even if there was, it would be on the level of saying what we want to say in the heat of the moment and then immediately resolving it, or something like that. It's difficult to call it a fight.

Chinen: Yeah. I've never thought about apologising or making up, so I don't think there's been a fight itself.

Yamada: But more than 10 years ago, I mistakenly hit him in the crotch with another member and he got mad and kicked me in the head (laughs).

Chinen: That's a misleading way of saying it! (laughs)

Yamada: To say it correctly, as I was squatting someone straddled me from above. I thought it was surely another member, so as a prank, I just put my hand up and directly hit him in the crotch. Then Chinen just fought back. Basically, I don't play those kinds of pranks on Chinen, so when I looked up and realised it was Chinen, I was like, "Oh shit!"

Chinen: Yeah. We don't do those kinds of pranks in our relationship (laughs).

Yamada: It's a peaceful relationship (laughs). Come to think of it, we haven't gone out for a meal together yet this year.

Chinen: Yeah. Let's go to Ryosuke's movie shooting or something when the world settles down.
