Peeking at JUMP through a round~ hole!
We asked them for information about who they'd like to peek inside the head of and what we'd be curious to peek at. Additionally, we have a recent sighting of the members. (Interviewed in early July)
Yamada Ryosuke

Someone you want to take a peek at
Inside the mind of mentalist, DaiGo-san. He can read someone's mind in any situation simply by faint movements in their facial expressions and gestures, right? That's great, but of course you find out things you don't want to know and things you don't like, and I think the damage from that would be big. I'm rather oblivious to these things and don't notice, but I'd like to take a peek at how someone would take care of their own mind in this situation and that's what I'd like to see.
What are you following now?
If I see a girl I like when I'm walking down the street, I follow after her with my eyes. I can't help it, I'm a guy after all (laughs). The things I like about a girl are her clothes, her hair, and her scent. There's one scent that I love unconditionally. If I walk past a girl and she smells like it, I'll look at her. And follow her with my eyes. Actually, I've only passed that scent once before, and I was like, "Eh!?" and turned around as fast as I could (laughs)
Sighted! Yaotome Hikaru
He seemed to have gone for a physical exam. He was glad to see that he was doing fine and healthy, so I looked at him and thought "That's great". But it's important to take care of your health. I'm also going to try to have physical exams and checkups. You have to take care of your health as much as you can, because your body is your capital. JUMP are getting to the age where we care about those things about ourselves (laughs).
Current situation
The recording for the drama, "Kiwadoi Futari, Future K2 Ikebukuro Police Station Criminal Division, Kanzaki and Kuroki" (starting in September on TBS, every Friday from 11pm~) was on a pretty heavy schedule. I spent my time at home either reading the script or playing games. No matter how little time I have, I play games (laughs). We went to an aquarium for the recording, and we all laughed at the penguin cries because it was ugly (laughs). You can't imagine how ugly their cry is from their appearance alone, so take a listen!
Chinen Yuri

Someone you want to take a peek at
Inside Tsuka-chan's (Tsukada Ryoichi) head. Tsuka-chan's behavior is a real mystery to me. I even received a video in our group chat this morning of him saying "good morning" to each muscle. As expected (laughs). That's a strange thing for someone to say and do, but I think it's people like Tsuka-chan who are able to break away from the bounds of ordinary people who are caught up in common sense that will end up changing the world. That's why I want to take a peek inside his head.
What are you following now?
Since I've been asked again, I wonder what I'm interested in... But when I had time during the Stay Home period, the thing I was thinking about most was JUMP, without question. I wondered if there was something more interesting we could do as a group, or if there was something we hadn't done yet. If I came up with a good idea, I would talk to the members and the agency. We've been coming up with our own set lists and direction for our shows, but we come up with ideas much earlier in the planning stage. For example, we would think about if we could do this kind of event. When we come up with ideas from that point, we might be able to create something new and different than what we've done. That's what I was thinking about (laughs).
Sighted! Yamada Ryosuke
Ryosuke is playing games (laughs). I also like to play the same game as him, so we connect online and talk. But during the Stay Home period, I started going to bed and waking up early in order to adjust my irregular lifestyle, and I couldn't see Ryosuke as he's a night owl. Even now, Ryosuke should be busy with recording his drama, but when I open his login status the next morning all that's left are traces of what he did in the middle of the night by himself (laughs).
Current situation
Since foreign soccer has started, I spend my days going to bed at 8pm and getting up in the middle of the night to watch it in real time. When I wake up 5 minutes before the game starts, I put on my glasses and turn on the TV. Then I sit up, sit on my bed and wait for the game to start. At half-time, I drink tea from the fridge, go to the bathroom and start watching the second half of the game. Even after the game is finished, it is still early so I go back to sleep.
Nakajima Yuto

Someone you want to take a peek at
It's not anyone in particular, but I'm interested in "What's happening?" inside the mind of someone who directs a film and also stars in that film themselves. I think it's very difficult to be an actor and a director at the same time. I could never do it (laughs). What if I was offered the opportunity to direct and star in a movie? Hmm, I'd be thankful, but I'd have to focus on one or the other. If I did both, I'd get my head messed up (laughs).
What are you following now?
Foreign dramas and movies that have Japanese actors speaking English. A recent example would be "THE HEAD", with Yamapi (Yamashita Tomohisa). Basically, the characters are usually in a setting where they are "Japanese people in a foreign country", so they have to make sure their English pronunciation doesn't sound too native, and that they speak in broken English. I think that's more difficult than speaking normally.
You have to think about where you're going to put your accent every time you speak. When you think about that, Yamapi's amazing! I need to study English for the next time a chance like that comes my way. I feel tense once again.
Sighted! Chinen Yuri
When we were filming an official video, Chinen would do occasional impressions of our manager. I would think, "You can't convey that (laughs)!" while laughing hard. I used to do those kind of jokes most of the time, but now he wants to do them too. I don't feel bad that we're doing these inside jokes in a public place, but as long as people see us laughing and thinks it's fun and it makes them happy, that's all that matters (laughs).
Current situation
For the recording of SUITS 2 (on Fuji TV every Monday from 9pm), we had a rule where we would go into each of our dressing rooms and change our clothes so we could keep our distance from other people. However, the dressing rooms don't have dehumidifiers, so in this season the clothes absorb moisture and are very heavy! (laughs). The moment you put them on, it feels like it's hitting you! The smart worldview of "SUITS" actually has a lot of hard work behind the scenes (laughs).
Yaotome Hikaru

Someone you want to take a peek at
A hawk! A hawk! When a hawk flies through the air and finds an animal in the water, it swoops down and catches it quickly! I think it's amazing to wonder what kind of thought process and strategies they use to make that happen. There's a saying that goes, "A skilled hawk hides his talons", (T/N: This might translate more like: He who knows most, speaks least in English), so I think they must use their smarts to get their food. I want to know how they can pull off such a fast move with such a small head. I'd also like to see how they look at things and how fast they catch their prey.
What are you following now?
It's a cast iron cookware called a skillet. I already have a frying pan, but I found one with a lid. I bought it because I wanted to try it out. I haven't used it yet because I just got it, so I haven't been able to experience how good it is with a lid, but it's pretty solid for now (laughs). I thought it could be used not only for everyday use, but also for outdoor activities. I've heard it's better for making things like ahijo than using a normal frying pan or smallpot. There are light and easy to use frying pans nowadays, but the skillet has its own advantages. Summer is still uncomfortable for me, so it would be nice if I can go camping in autumn.
Sighted! Takaki Yuya
What's amazing is that when I met the members at the end of the Stay Home period, none of them had become fat. I saw that none of them had gained any weight, and I could tell that they had done some exercise at home. This is also the same for Yuya, it seems like he has got in really good shape. I haven't checked with him yet, so that's my guess, but I think he's been training hard. I guess everyone is getting to the age where they have to take care of their bodies, including me (laughs).

Surprisingly, it would be the members. We have a general idea of each other's work schedules, but I have no idea what they do on their days off. We've known each other for so long. Sometimes you can get a week or two off at a moment's notice in this job, but that's a real mystery to me, especially when it happens. The one I don't understand the most is Yabu... What is he doing?(laughs). Maybe there's a Yabu I don't know about. But that doesn't mean I'm going to ask him directly.

I'm very concerned about the new coronavirus, so I watch the news every day to see how it's progressing. It's a big issue that directly affects the lives of people around the world. I've already finished shooting, but we've both been recording a drama, so when we see each other at work, we update each other on what's going on. We ask each other things like, "Did you change the way you filmed?" or "Did you wear a face shield?". Yuto has to wear a suit for his role, so it seems hot and difficult for him. I hope he does his best to get through the rest of the filming. I was in light clothing, so I was fine (laughs).
Current situation
The quarantine period is over, and I've often been meeting with my friends to eat. We're properly keeping our distance apart. Each of us are loosely doing different jobs. Inside the head of Steve Jobs. The machines that people around the world commonly use today are ideas that were in Jobs' head decades ago and were unrealistic at the time, right? That's a tremendous thing. Even though he's gone, the base and the brand are still there and it continues to evolve. For example, when I buy a suit, I look for the best length because it looks different depending on the hem pattern. That type of thing. I'm still wearing t-shirts and jeans this summer, though (laughs).
Sighted! Yabu Kota
I heard he bought a sauna mat. A lot of people have a sauna mat, but Yabu-kun didn't seem to have one yet. Even though sauna places have reopened, it seems there are many places that don’t have towns for infection control and even if they did, I think it's safer to have your own mat. But it appears he hasn't been yet. I also like the sauna, but I haven't been in a while. When I go, I might buy my own mat.
Current situation
I went for a location shooting for "Tokoro-san ga gakkou dewa oshietekurenai sokon tokoro!" (TV Tokyo). It's been a long time since I've filmed on location, even for other TV shows, so half of me was looking forward to it and the other half was nervous. Even so, I'm happy that I'm starting to work little by little like before. I wore a face shield for the whole time we were on location, and it was a bit embarrassing to walk through the streets of Shibuya wearing it (laughs).
Arioka Daiki

Someone you want to take a peek at
There is a company in the space exploration business called Tesla. I want to take a peek into the mind of their CEO, Elon Musk-san. I wonder what goes on inside the head of someone at the top of a global corporation? I'm sure he's thinking on a much larger scale than I could ever imagine. If I had to name someone closer to me, I would like to look into the private life of Kubo Ren-kun from Shounen Ninja. I can't imagine what kids that age usually do for fun and what they're interested in. I wonder what kind of sweets they eat, for example. We haven't had much contact and I haven't had a chance to talk to him in person, but I'm interested in Ren-kun.
What are you following now?
Lately, I've been liking watching videos of people riding motorcycles. I'm not someone who rides motorcycles myself, but it's great fun to watch other people ride them. Takaki knows a lot about motorcycles, so it might be nice to have him explain how to ride them while watching the videos.
Sighted! Inoo Kei
Last time we shot an official video for JUMP, Inoo-chan appeared in his own pajamas for the shoot (laughs). But he looked so stylish in it and Inoo-chan himself gave off an air of, "But it's fashion?" So people who saw the video probably didn't think he was wearing pajamas. I did notice, though (laughs).
Current situation
Matsuo Shun-san from Chocorate Planet, who I co-star with on "Hirunandesu!", had a baby. So I went to the baby store to get him a present. Before I went, I asked one of the JUMP staff members who had children what would be a good present and they suggested, "Something you can't have too much of", so I got some baby shoes and a bib. There are so many different kinds of bibs now. This is the first time I heard. When I gave it to Matsuo-san two days later, he was happier than I expected.
We asked them for information about who they'd like to peek inside the head of and what we'd be curious to peek at. Additionally, we have a recent sighting of the members. (Interviewed in early July)
