The members of Hey! Say! JUMP talk about the sights and things they've seen recently. Photo opportunities seem to abound in everyday life. We asked each member to take a picture of a prop for the photo shoot and an artistic picture was born! ♪
Yamada Ryosuke
- On the set of the drama "Kiwadoi Futari - K2", the cast get along with each other quite well. The members of the crime squad that involve me, (Tanaka) Kei-chan and Jessie, get together between takes and are always chatting away. The one in the centre of all of this is Yashima-san (Norito), and Jesse gets teased by him a lot. I laugh at them while I watch (laughs). The other thing I noticed was Kei-chan's clothes. As I told him, Kei-chan's clothes were really tacky! I know how it feels to change into a costume right away, so I can understand why you would come in pajamas, but Kei-chan actually comes in real pajamas. And even though I told him that they were tacky, he didn't seem worried about changing. However, as I haven't seen him in his normal, everyday clothes, there's a possibility that he's extremely cool (laughs).
- Today, before I left for work, my older sister and younger sister came over to visit with their kids and I hadn't seen my nieces in a while. My little sister's baby is not even a year old yet, so she was just cute, but my older sister's baby is much older now. It seems like she could say things like "no" and "please". Seeing that kind of growth made me really happy. To be honest, I wasn't up and ready this morning, but I wanted to make my nieces happy, so I did my best to comfort them (laughs).
- This was a side to me that was shown. We performed KinKi Kids' "Natsu no Ousama" at the "2020 FNS Music Festival Summer", right? Actually, when everyone listens to this song, it reminds us of our Jr. days and we get excited, and I was really excited at the rehearsal stage. Then the members told me, "You need to be like that for the performance too". I was asked to show how frantic I was working in my Jr. days and the result of all my efforts was that. Seeing me being hyped up so much, I'm sure there were some people who thought "What's wrong?" but this is how that happened (laughs). After being on air, Yabu-chan apparently wrote on Johnny's web "# What's with Yamada's last pose", but the pose I did that was saluting with both hands was just a quick one.
Chinen Yuri
- I decided to change my hair colour. The colour of my hair is already fading, but it was actually a mix of bright blue and purple. In order to get that colour, I had to go to a hair salon to get my hair bleached first. I was kind of embarrassed when I saw that my head was completely white after the bleach. I wasn't used to it (laughs). But the colour came out exactly how I wanted it to, and I'm glad I took the plunge and dyed it at this point. I mean, if I turned 30 and suddenly did something so out there, I wouldn't like it if someone looked at me and thought, "He's gonna start doing this kind of thing suddenly at this age?" I'm glad I did it while I was still young because it would be too embarrassing when I'd go out (laughs).
- There is a project on "Itadaki High Jump" called "Deceive your opponents! JUMP Doubt Show." It's a game where the members are divided into two groups and you have to guess who on the other team is doing something different. For example, everyone might be eating normal marbo dofu, but there is one person who has to eat the spicy marbo dofu and you have to guess who that person is. And the eaters have to act so they don't find out who the "one" is, and even in this case, Yutti and Ryosuke are really good at it. You can rely on Yutti and Ryosuke when you're on the same team as them, because everyone is fooled by their performances. Actually, Daiki's acting is pretty good at times too. But there are times when it's too easy to tell (laughs).
- There's a battle royale shooting game that I love and have been playing for a long time. Recently, there was a tournament where all the famous streamers who upload their let's plays of the game to video sites got together to compete against each other. If I can say it, it was like an all-star tournament, so it was a lot of fun. That was the day I was scheduled to appear on, "Raajira!" and it finished just as the the live broadcast started, so I watched it all (laughs). There were two teams of live streamers that I watch a lot, and they were both competing well, so I was really excited.
Nakajima Yuto
- The view from the window of the high-rise building where we filmed "SUITS 2" was amazing. We even rented an actual office on the 40th floor, and the standby area was on the same floor. Even when I was getting my make-up done, I could see the scenery outside, which was really nice. Just below the building was Zojoji Temple, Tokyo Tower was next to that, and behind that was the Fuji TV sphere reflecting the sun and shining brightly. Then I looked around the office and found a desk, which I assumed was a JUMP fan. There was a JUMP calendar on display, and on the back of their chair was a hoodie from the "SENSE OR LOVE" live tour that proudly said, "I'm a fan!" at work, which I was happy to see. But you know, they were probably a fan of Hikaru-kun, not me (laughs).
- We've had a lot of thunderstorms lately, so I see a lot of flashing lightning. It's a little scary, but it's so cool to watch from a distance. When the rolling clouds cover the sky, and the moment it lights up, the whole sky becomes brighter. This is the same phenomenon that happens when smoke appears at a concerts and the lighting becomes more vivid.
- I met Kazama-kun (Shunsuke) recently at Fuji Television's bay studio, where he was filming the drama "Asagao: Forensic Doctor 2". He introduced me to an action-adventure game that he said he was currently playing. It's a multi-story game that's almost like a visual work, where the player is given choices, and the story keeps changing depending on how you choose. You can enjoy it on your own, but it would be even more interesting if I played it with Kazama-kun, as the choices become more branched. When I was listening to Kazama's passionate talk, Kamishiraishi Mone-chan who is in "Suits", passed by. It seems Kazama-kun had worked with her before too and the three of us hit it off. We started to joke around a little bit. Kazama-kun comes up to me and says, "Oh, I see you're from Johnny's," and Moe's like, "Oh, I'm sorry, but he's not involved (with Suits)" and interrupted him. It was a silly joke, but Kazama-kun said happily, "Ah~ I like the combination of us three."
Yaotome Hikaru
- I was recently told about a new game by Takahashi Kaito from King & Prince. Kaito said, "Please give it a try!" and I downloaded it on that same day. So I put together a team of four, including Hirano Sho, who started playing around the same time I did, and Fuji Naoki-kun, a Jr. It's actually a five-player game so everytime a stranger comes in, but they can't hear our voice chat. What's interesting about it is that in normal shooting games, you get hit by 10 shots and you lose, but this game is much more realistic, and it's more severe because it's over after 2 or 3 shots. That's why I'm addicted to it.
- I was invited to be the charity personality for this year's "24 Hour TV" in Miyagi Prefecture, so I was at Miyatere the whole time (T/N: The Nippon TV station in Miyagi). The staff had prepared a large dressing room for me to relax in, and on the large table was a rice cooker that used a less watered down version of the new Miyagi rice, "Date Masayume", and a regular rice cooker. And they had laid out all kinds of Miyagi's local cuisine that goes with rice, from the sea to the mountain. It was spectacular. They even had my favourite, Shiso Maki. I was really grateful!
- I've been enjoying "camping at home" lately. I've been decorating my kitchen with oil lanterns and I put an iron plate on the stove that's used for camping to cook steak. I also make oden in a little pot like an outdoor goods cooker. I turned off the lights in my house and only used an oil lantern and a second LED lantern for my dinner in a dim light. It's pretty much like camping, just by admiring the food and lanterns by yourself. But I really want to have a campfire. So I'd like to live in a house where I can have a campfire in the garden (laughs), Well, it'd be best if I could go camping normally. I want to go "solo camping!" Oh, Koichi (Yugo) asked me to take him to solo camping, and I replied, "Solo x solo is fine". You can have distance, and the rule at the campground is that you have to wear a mask in the toilets and common areas, but you don't have to wear a mask in your own tent or tarp, so it's very liberating.
Yabu Kota
- I started watching the anime version of "Boku no Hero Academia." And I thought, "Heroaca" is great! I cried at the scene when the main character's master, the immensely popular and powerful number one hero "All Might", exerts himself and defeats an unbelievable enemy. Honestly speaking, I cry a lot when I watch anime. "Violet Evergarden" produced by Kyoto Animation also made me cry. To put it simple, it's a story about a girl who loses her hand in a war and it becomes an artificial one, and she writes letters for people who can't read or write. There's a scene where she writes a letter for a mother, who has only a few months to live, and it will be delivered on her daughter's birthday every year, and it was really moving. Even thought the story is good on its own, the animation draws you deeper into the world through the visuals, which is why it makes you cry even though you don't want to cry.
- Lately, Hikaru has been copying me a lot. By telling this story, it's obvious that I've been reading Hikaru's blog, but I don't have a choice (laughs). One of the things he copies is the "# (hashtag)". Whenever I would update my blog on Johnny's Web, I would always add a "#" at the end, and I used to think "This is my thing." Before I knew it, Hikaru started doing it too! And he didn't even ask! Also, I've always called Inoo-chan "Inoo" and Hikaru calls him "Inoo-chan", so I was surprised when Hikaru called him "Inoo-chan" recently when I was on "Raajira!". I hate how Hikaru goes so far to imitate me. I'm the only one who is allowed to call him Inoo!
- I'm happy to be able to discuss my impressions of games that I've been consuming at home as MC on the soccer informational show "Liga Digest!" with many people on a weekly basis. I've always liked soccer and I think I have a lot of knowledge about it, but it's not like I'm a professional player. I try to keep a good balance between showing off my knowledge and getting more and more persuasive words out of the commentators who were players on the show.
Takaki Yuya
- I was at the beach in Chiba for a magazine shoot. At the time there were a bunch of people going scuba diving on a boat, and even though I was a bit far away, I could tell they were having a blast. It was honestly a familiar sight, and something that was quite normal to do until the world became such a difficult place and I thought, "It's a blessing to be able to do normal things." I guess they had to take all kinds of preventative measures before they went diving, but I'm sure they walked away from the boat with a feeling of, "I'm glad I went, I had fun!" Did I feel jealous? No, I wasn't jealous. I was just happy to be able to go to the beach, which I love (laughs).
- One of my best friends had a baby, but in this day and age, I guess I held back on rushing out to celebrate. But then I was running errands the other day, I went to his home and I saw him holding the baby. I was like, "I see... so you're a dad now..." and it's hard to describe. This isn't the the first time a friend of mine has had a baby, but it's the first time a best friend who has been with me forever has had one. It was even stranger than when my sister had her baby. I can't really put into words how strange it was. Of course, I feel the happiness and blessing first, but on the other hand, I wondered "Would I ever be like that one day?" And then I started to worry about myself... Anyway, I'm sure that was the first time I'd ever experienced that feeling.
- The other day, JUMP were all all learning the choreography of a certain song together. There were a lot of new movements we hadn't done before, and while everyone was confused, Hikaru-kun was the first one to learn the dance. Well, I knew that Hikaru-kun was good at the intricate hand movements that we were doing at the time. Hikaru-kun is usually the slowest to learn anything, but he started to give advice and said, "This is how you do it," and it was funny to see people who were being taught by him look a little unconvinced (laughs).
Inoo Kei
- The scenery I've seen lately? Hmmm... I spent a lot of time at home, so inevitably I turned on the TV a lot, and I watched a lot of variety shows. Especially Ariyoshi-san's (Hiroiki) shows. I found Ariyoshi's detailed talk and his heavy eating, despite his appearance, very interesting. Sometimes I would especially record it and watch it. Also, I've watched movies. I'm looking forward to seeing "Tenet", which will be released soon (Interview took place in early September), so to prepare for the film, I watched Christopher Nolan's previous work "Interstellar" at home. I saw it in a movie theatre before I saw it a second time and there were some parts I didn't understand, but this time I was like, "Ah~ So that's what that was!" and enjoyed it once again. I like movies that are a little bit confusing, or have a big twist at the end, or make you think about something. In that sense, "Parasite" was also very interesting. On the other hand, I also like those Hollywood like movies that are just like, "Boom, boom, boom!" Anyway, I've been watching a lot of movies this year.
- I used to be a drinker of water or tea, but recently I've become addicted to carbonated soft drinks. Well, I only drink a glass of it after a bath, but everytime I drink it, I think "It's so good!" I can't stop it. I think it's because of the sugar content compared to tea. When I look at my body, I think I'm gaining weight... I feel like I need to lose weight. I'm not good at exercising, so I'll have to do something about my food.
- Recently I tested positive for the coronavirus, which caused a lot of trouble and worry to many people. My symptoms were only minor and I had to recuperate at home, but everyone was really worried about me. I received a lot of messages and phone calls from the members, seniors and juniors, and I was grateful as I read their messages. There were some people who had to take a PCR test and I took a break from the show. Yabu and Chinen took over "Raajira!" for me. Now that I'm back safely, I'm trying to return the favour properly!
Arioka Daiki
- A little while ago, Chinen coloured his hair slightly blue, and since I've never coloured my hair that way, I asked him, "If you dye your hair that colour, will it colour your pillow and everything?" And then Chinen said, "Well, my pillow is blue too so there's no problem," and I said, "I see~ I see~." I think that was around July, and recently, Chinen started to dye his hair blue again. And this time it was such a bright blue colour so I asked him again, "Is your pillow and stuff okay?" and he replied angrily, "How many times do you have to ask me? I've told you my pillow is blue" (laughs). But you know, Chinen's blue hair really suits him. When I saw him earlier, he had lost some of the blue and it was all whitish because of the time that had passed, but it was still nice. I complimented him and said, "The colour you have now is nice, I like it" and he got angry at me again and said, "Tell me you like both of them!" (laughs)
- I recommended a movie that impressed me and a video I enjoyed to Yuto and Hikaru-kun. To be specific, I recommended Yuto a movie called "Jojo Rabbit," which was made by director we both like. For Hikaru-kun, I recommended a video by a content creator who was from the same hometown as me. Hikaru used to come over my house a lot, so I thought "It would be fun if he saw some familiar scenery." It was only yesterday that I told them both about it, but when I saw them today, they both said, "That was interesting!" and it surprised me! I'm glad they checked it out so quickly and told me about their experiences.
- JUMP all danced together. We had the STAY HOME period and our new song "Your Song" wasn't a song that you can dance to hard, so there was a gap in intense dancing and the choreography of the songs we used to dance to was very difficult. To be honest, I was so heartbroken when I couldn't even imagine myself dancing. The members were having a hard time with it too. We got together a few days later and by the time we all got together to dance, everyone was dancing beautifully. I was a little bit impressed with the way the performance came together!
